CD Pool was formed in 1994 by Tim Rudling and Rob Sawyer. Both CD Pool founders started DJ’ing both as mobile and Club DJ's.

Tim's business career started in retail before moving to Island Records just in time to contribute to the success of the seminal 4th & Broadway label. He worked on many classic records from the likes of Trouble Funk, Joycelyn Brown, Will Downing, Skipworth & Turner and Eugene Wilde and well as Island acts Frankie Goes to Hollywood, U2 and Grace Jones.

Tim then joined EMI Records, heading up the Dance Department working a host of hit records from the likes of  Pet Shop Boys & Duran Duran as well as many dance hits from US artists such as Brass Construction and Evelyn King.

It was while working on his own company, The Dance Corporation that he realised that many DJ's could not find promo’s on CD despite being early adopters of the CD format and the concept for CD Pool was born.

Rob began his music industry career in music publishing, first at ATV Music and then at EMI Publishing where he signed a variety of writers generating hit songs for artists such as George Michael, Eugene Wilde, Billy Griffin, Steve Arrington and many more. Moving to EMI Records he worked in the A&R department on artists such as Kym Mazelle, Pet Shop Boys, Tongue n Cheek and Johnny Clegg.

He started the Intermusica music consultancy business in the early 1990's with clients such as Time Warner, Kurtis Mantronik, EMI Records, Judge Jules and Music Choice Europe and teamed up with Tim in 1993 to create CD Pool, housing the first CD Pool office in the loft of his West London home, an arrangement that Mrs Sawyer soon insisted on ending.
